Munchies: Voodoo Doughnut Pays Tribute To David Bowie

This past Sunday we lost an incredible legend, David Bowie succumbed to the cancer that had taken over his body 18 months earlier. I won’t act like I am some Bowie super fan, but I understand his significance and what he means to his diehard fans. I was first introduced to Bowie when he was the Goblin King in the Labyrinth, a movie that will always hold a dear place in my heart, and his presence was felt every weekend when we cleaned the house as a family….to his music. My mom loved him SO MUCH and as a child I didn’t get it, but as an adult I do. It’s funny how that works. I never thought I’d be listening to Bowie well into my 30’s, but here I am, upset that such a beautiful creature who gave us so much was taken from us at the age of 69. The impact he had on music and pop culture will forever be remembered, shit, some musicians wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for him.

Here’s a video of some of the tributes that were held to celebrate the life of David Bowie, it makes my heart so heavy and happy.

Portland’s own, Voodoo Doughnut paid tribute to David Bowie the best way they know how, with doughtnuts! It’s silly, but it just goes to show you the impact he’s had.

I contribute at the website, The Smokers Club and they have a piece on an old cannabis related arrest, it’s dope AF that Bowie showed up in court as the White Duke.
