Pot pills? Welcome to the Matrix…

Vancouver’s Fairwinds Manufacturing, maker of concentrates, tinctures and a wide variety of other intriguing items, has a new product heading to Vancouver store shelves (and to other stores around the state) in the next week or two.

The items? Pot pills – with an interesting “Matrix”-like twist.

James Hull, the company’s owner, and a fan of “The Matrix” films, got the idea of releasing two pill varieties so customers can choose which experience they’d prefer.

The red pill is a sativa with a mix of uplifting daytime herbs. The blue pill is an indica with a mix of relaxing evening herbs.

The pills are 5 mg each, with 10 mg as a serving size. Using two pills for a dose lets consumers work better within their tolerance level, he said.

Those new to pot or returning to it after many years will probably want to start with the 5 mg dose, whereas experienced users will likely prefer the full 10 mg.

The products will be packaged separately for those that only want the sativa or indica, and also in a mix pack for those that want to try both, Hull said.

The two varieties and the mix pack got him thinking about the films, which led to his choice of pill colors, he said, passing along a quote from Morpheus in “The Matrix.”

“This is your last chance. After this there is no turning back. You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes,” he said.

If you’re new to edibles and decide to try the capsules, remember to keep in mind that edibles can take up to two hours to kick in – so don’t take anything else until you’re sure you’re feeling the full effects. Also, edibles tend to affect people differently than smoking or vaping, so you may find your tolerance is lower.

The advantage of edibles is that you don’t need to smoke anything and the effects tend to last longer, generally for 5-6 hours after it kicks in.
