Man making marijuana oil hospitalized after explosion
ALBANY, Ore. — A man making butane honey oil out of marijuana has been hospitalized and cited by police after the gas caused an explosion in his Albany garage.
The Albany Democrat-Herald reports that 37-year-old Travis Bryant faces three counts of reckless endangering after the Tuesday night explosion.
Officials say several people were in a duplex to which the garage was attached.
Detective Sgt. Dan Jones says he worries there will be more explosions from butane honey oil labs as the substance increases in popularity.
Butane honey oil, also called hash oil, is a potent marijuana extract. Under Oregon’s laws, making honey oil or any other marijuana extracts at home is illegal.
