Authorities: Illegal pot shop shut down near Mount Vernon
MOUNT VERNON — The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office and the state Liquor and Cannabis Board say they have shut down an unlicensed marijuana shop operating near Mount Vernon in Clear Lake.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports the move came last week after detectives received reports of suspicious activity at a small shop across the street from a swimming area.
Chief Criminal Deputy Tobin Meyer says residents also reported seeing people, including minors, access the shop on a daily basis.
He says the Skagit County Interlocal Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at the shop Friday and seized marijuana, cash and surveillance equipment.
A search warrant was also served on the shop owner’s Burlington residence. Meyer says detectives recovered additional items and a vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
